First gathered in 2018 by flutist Cheryl Pyle, the annual Howling for Jeremy Steig Solo Flute Festival brings together ten distinct flutists to honor the legacy and September birthday of the legendary jazz-fusion pioneer. Held in the peaceful setting of the Lower East Side’s 6BC Botanical Garden, the gathering celebrates Steig’s groundbreaking, boundary-pushing approach to improvisation with live solos and readings from his book Get Me Out of Here.
